HELLO..
"tom418" wrote So if the OP had an ATP with and some turbine time, he would still have to "sit back and see how everyone interacts"? Lots of time and advanced tickets does not mean you will know how to interact within this, or any other newsgroup. Lets say you walk into a crowded room, full of people talking about common interests you have. Do you barge in, and start talking, or do you listen a while, and join into conversations, and once you know some people, start some conversations on your own? The polite person would learn the group dynamics, and join in, rather than trying to dominate. -- Jim in NC |

in .com: Google Groups is fast becoming useless for posting anything - I often have to try 5 or 6 times to post, each time it waits an eternity then times out, and after 5 or 6 attempts it just gives up and grays out the Send button. It's probably inconvenient for you, but that's the best news I've had so far today. Any Mac people on here can suggest a good newsreader for me?? I think you've had a few suggestions. |

Not on a Mac, but this page lists some possibilities for you: http://www.newsreaders.com/mac/clients.html regards /Rolf Wow, you guys are too helpful!! Thanks to all the others who have posted replies!!! I have been using Macs for a number of years now, and (apologies to the poster who suggested this) I have no desire to get another PeeCee,what with viruses and all that like I went to Mac to get away from :-) IIRC when I originally looked at newsreaders I was more into the binary newsgroups, and I disliked the newsreaders I tried at the time for the purpose of saving binaries.. I will have a look tonight (using the crappy work PeeCee at the moment) and see how I get on. Anything's got to be better than this!! |

HELLO..
you don't like MT-NewsWatcher? or NewWatcher? or Thunderbird? I have tried Thunderbird and didn't like it so much. Must try the others. Been years since I looked for a newsreader, I am sure things have moved along! Outlook express (blech) is still available fromwww.microsoft.com, and would still work as long as you are running Classic. I have an Intel Mac so no classic for me - I did like using Classic because it sort of feels really retro, like driving a '70s car :0) I only had OE on one Mac, a mid 90s model, can't remember which one, but every time I tried to use OE as a newsreader the machine always ran out of memory as OE loaded the ng list -- Bob Noel (goodness, please trim replies!!!) |

ALL you want to do is read newsgroups with it. Yeah, but I moved away from Windoze to avoid all the crap that comes with it... I've got two monitors you can HAVE!! So do half of your neighbors. Hahahaha! I dunno where you live, but I suspect shipping your one to New Zealand would cost more than a new one Problem solved ...use M$ 6.0 Outlook Express :-) In some ways I have a bit of a need for windoze, as I am a Filemaker programmer (if you can say Filemaker and Programming in the same sentence with a straight face), and I currently can't release any software I've developed for windoze users without getting my hands on a PeeCee as the Mac version of Filemaker only produces runtimes for Macs.. But I think the solution is actually simple. Step 1) Upgrade hard drive in my Mac Step 2) Get Boot Camp from Apple Step 3) Install XP as dual boot XP comes with OE, right?? I know it doesn't come with much else! :-) You know, no disk burning or DVD player built in, no iLife, etc etc.. Montblack Also - a $99 Aiwa boombox plays CD's just fine, thank you very much. There used to be a ad on TV to help you tell the difference between Aiwa stereos and Aaaiiiiiiwwwwaaaa - a painful karate move mini rant mode off |

I use it only on my Windows machine as I do not use any MS products other than Media Center. I use MT Newswatcher on my Macs for usenet.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Sweet..
