Default F/A-18 approach speed rule of thumb

What's the gouge for knowing the proper approach speed based on weight
(carrier landing)? I may get a chance for a few hours in a sim over the
holidays. The sim may use a CF-18 model, which I understand to be similar
to an A/B model Hornet. I'm assuming an A model is closest approximation.
Any suggestions for power settings and pitch to start the approach?

All you need to fly is 8.1 deg AOA. Nothing else. Starting
around 140 kts for most weights will get you close, then center
the E bracket in the HUD on the velocity vector and that will be
on speed AOA which is the proper airspeed (whatever it works out
to be) for carrier type landings. Land based hornets might fly a
constant airspeed approach and actually pseudo flare to soften
the landings.

If all else fails, 140-150 knots is a good gouge with a nice flare to land
at the threshold.

Just don't keep flaring on touchdown (with hook skip) until after four
bolters you need the barricade as I did about 44 years ago on the Bon Homme
Richard.
