Headset

Personally, I'm very satisfied with my (two) LightSpeed 20XL headsets.
Comfy and quiet, IMHO.

You are probably aware of this but just in case...any headset's ability to
filter out noise will depend to a great deal on how good a seal the earcups
make. With the LightSpeed ANRs, at least, if you have sunglasses with big,
thick ear-pieces (whatever those things that go back and sit on your ears
are called), you won't get a good seal, and the ANR won't work well. The
same thing will happen if you just don't get a good seal for any other
reason. I use sunglasses that are held on with a little elastic string, so
the earcups seal nicely, but most sunglasses work fine as long as you're
careful about how you seal the earcups.

That's an OWT. Any abnormal engine sounds are easily picked up with
ANR.

Actually it blocks the noise that is doing damage to your hearing. You can pick
out familiar noises quite easily (whether you are flying a piston or jet) with
an ANR.
