Default BWB has finished his Lancair Legacy...

Bill asked me to post this for him as he no longer has access to
newsgroups. Also, I've posted five pictures of his new airplane on
alt.binaries.pictures under my own name. Title of post is "pictures of
Lancair Legacy".

"Just thought some of you might appreciate seeing my new, bright and
shiney 300 mph ship. I'm now test flying it and have about 10 hours on
it. It's got a fuel injected IO-550 (550 cubic inch 6 cylinder
Continental Engine) on the front end of it. The prop is
carbon/composite and is dynamically balanced to the engine to less than
0.1 ips. It's so smooth, it's like flying in a Lear Jet. I true out at
about 240 knots (275 mph) at 10,000 feet at 60% power on about 14
gallons/hr right now. Later, I'll run lean of peak and get that while
running about 12.5 gallons.

The speeds are a bit more than the RV-6 to deal with to say the least.
I shoot my approach at 120 knots (140 mph), go to full flaps below that
and try to slow down to 90 knots(105 mph) over the fence. When it
touches down it's indicating about 75 knots (85 mph). I throw out the
speed brakes, pull the stick all the way back for aerodynamic braking
and it still takes 3000 feet to stop it, without using excessive wheel
braking. It's just so clean. Thrust reverse would be a nice option, but
I don't have it with a piston engine. I've got it up for sale at about
$300,000 if you know anyone who might be interested. It's the only one
for sale in the U.S. right now. It's full IFR and certified for it.
But, if it takes a couple years to sell....or more, then it will just
remain my "Main Ride" for awhile. In fact I don't care if I ever sell
it to tell the truth! It's a ball to fly. It climbs about 2000 fpm at
160 knots indicated, rolls and loops just fine. I hired the best in the
country to do the interior. And, I had the best in the country help
build it.

Bill"

"Hey John...since I can't post to the usegroups...would you mind posting
my email to you on the Lancair over there? And, if you have the time
post the photos to the binary's group? The airplane is registered to
Martin Heisler, the builder of record. So, when they run the N-number,
they'll all come back saying, "Yeah, Phillips doesn't own it, etc."
Just agree that I don't own it. I just funded it. In fact I wanted
nothing other than the original Kit registration in my own name as the
parts came from the factory and that's the way we did it. Martin is a
Canadian Citizen. If anyone buys it, crashes and sues him as the
builder, he'll just go back to Toronto. Ha Ha."

Well, having posted this worldwide ought to do wonders for that defense...
