The "Lightweight" Fighter is on the verge of overtaking the F-105 as the heaviest single engine fighter of all time. Talk about irony.

Whoops.

According to AvWeek the latest F-16I for Israel with be able to take
off at a gross of 52,000lbs. Max for the F-105 (according to
published sources) is just over 54,000lbs. With the F-16 likely to be
in service for several decades to come in one form or another any
wagers or whether or not it will eventually outweigh the F-105? And
with only about 3/4 of the wing area won't that be fun? Of course the
Navy F-35 will likely blow the doors off both of them when it comes to
max gross. . .

Just so long as it can lug a nuke to Tehran it's cool.

Anyway the Navy already "super sized" their light fighter (65,000
lbs!), so the Farce is still catching up.
