Default Brantly?

I'm a fixed wing kinda guy looking to get a rotor add-on. It seems to me
that there are plenty of nice Brantlys out there for less than a $100K. My
questions to the group are;

1. Is it do-able to get my training in my own machine? insurance,
instructors, does the instructor have to have been trained in a Brantly
etc.?

2. Is there anything wrong with the Brantly? Why aren't there more of
them? They seem to be a nice low cost training/personal helo.

Thanks,

And I have truly enjoyed Kevin's stories. Thank you Kevin.

They are small like a Cessna 150 cabin size.

Performance can be an issue. I've heard that with full gross load HIGE can
be as low as 1100' density altitude. Even sea level sites can see higher
density altitudes than that.
Yes you can be instructed in your own ship and yes the instructor needs a
checkout and I believe 5hrs. in the type of bird prior to instructing.
I got an opportunity to attempt a hover in one before I ever had any
helicopter experience and was able to keep the thing on the taxiway the
first try with just the cyclic. I found it easier than the Bell 47,
Schweitzer 300CB and the R-22 for that particular excercise.
