Mitch Polinsky is about 106sm out (5:28pm PDT) heading eastbound to Chadron, NE. He's on a free distance motorglider record and doing very well. Chadron is about 735sm out from his release point 100sm SSW of Ely, NV

Tony, nice job forecasting the weather for the Sports Nats. I like your use of the AVIATION section of the Forth Worth NWS Area Forecast Discussion.

Quick report from a hotel in Torrington, WY:

I went just past the Nebraska-Wyoming border from a remote start near Alamo, NV (a very long aerotow from Ely -- thanks James!). I then backtracked about 15 miles to land at the Torrington Municipal airport in Wyoming. According to my Garmin, it was 686 miles straight line distance, just a smidgeon over 1100 km, but nothing is official yet. This was my fourth attempt to do this, and I think I'm done for a while with straight out distance flights!

Awesome flight Mitch. Too bad I only found out after the fact and missed the excitement of following your flight in real time (and now that you have fans following you may want to consider InReach...)

Congratulations!

Hi Mitch,

Congratulations on the great flight!

Is it a declared distance record?

Best Regards,
