Name not yet released, but there can't be many highly experienced Aussies from Melbourne competing.

To post like this before facts like the release of the identity of the deceased pilot is in very poor taste and accomplishes nothing that is positive. Especially when there are several very experienced Australian pilots competing.

I pointed out an article published on *the* major national news site. And on the Herald site soon after. Everyone in the entire country who reads news will have seen it.

Also published in Australia six hours before I posted he

If there is poor taste, it is standard operating practice.

Bruce,
I appreciate the posting of this accident via the initial media report. Though details are lacking, at least we have been alerted and can use further research to aid in overall safety, should one wish. E.g., I'll be visiting Omarama for the 3rd time in February and it serves as a heads-up for planning purposes. Not that it's related to management, but they do run a very tight/safe operation IMO.

The pilot has now been identified as David Wilson.
