Vandenberg Air Force Base presents
Western Air and Space Show
October 30 -31, 2004

Entry and Safety Rules

Due to recent changes in U.S. "Homeland Security" across the
United States, the Department of Defense, FAA and law enforcement
officials have instituted precautionary security requirements for air
shows, including the one here at Vandenberg AFB. Please remember,
these security requirements are for your safety and are imposed upon
all of us equally.
Air Force and local law enforcement officials will be in place at base
entrances to enforce these rules. All individuals and vehicles
entering the base are subject to search. The rules and their
enforcement will not be final until the day of the air show when you
actually enter the gates at Vandenberg AFB and pass through the
security checkpoints.

Security - Since 9/11, security has increased at Vandenberg AFB.
Please arrive early and be prepared for longer lines due to these
changes. Various anti-terrorism measures will be in place to ensure
everyone's safety. The best way to prepare for base entry
check-points is to get ready like you're going to the airport. You
will encounter similar security measures and delays. Whereas people
will be able to bring small diaper bags, camera bags and/or purses,
the following list is what you will not be allowed to bring into the
air show:

- knives
- guns
- explosives
- fireworks
- weapons of any type
- large bags (backpacks, large diaper bags, large camera bags)
- Coolers (of any size)
- Backpacks
- Halloween Costumes
- Bicycles, skates or rollerblades, motorized vehicles (handicapped
exempt)

Please note that everyone is subject to search by security personnel.
Also review our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Page for more
information.

Politically motivated gatherings, solicitations, speeches, or
materials are not allowed.

All drivers must have and present a valid driver's license.

Photography will be limited to the Air & Space Show Flightline area.

All Vehicles (Van sized or larger) will be parked off-base in the
parking lot at Azalea Lane and Highway 1 (the former base mobile home
park). Bus transportation will be provided to the flightline.

Guests may use the Main Gate, Lompoc Gate, or Solvang Gate.
