The notam for 6B6 says that runway 12/30 is closed UFN. Not the airport.

Strange.

K6B6 MINUTE MAN AIR FIELD
- FDC 3/8408 - 3/8408 CANCELLED BY FDC 3/0502 ON 10/30/03 14:30
- 08/057 - 12/30 CLSD 15 AUG 17:18 UNTIL UFN

K9B4 SHIRLEY
- 09/059 - AP CLSD WIE UNTIL UFN

What's really bizarre is that I flew over Minuteman last week and
there were still lots of aircraft on the ramp.

Shirley has been closed for at least a couple of years, but for some
reason it's only NOTAM'd that way. It's not X'd out on the charts.

The area around Shirley is full of the meanest anti-noise Nazis around.
They've been going after just about every airplane that flies over the
area, particularly aerobatic pilots. Their avowed goal is to have all
recreational flying outlawed.

Some airfields in New Hampshire are "closed" during the winter. This
relieves the airport owner of the responsibility of plowing the
runway.

August seems a bit drastic, however! Maybe the problem feared was wet
leaves on the runway?
