Default Sigmatek Aeon Vacuum pump?

Does anybody have any real world data on this piston version of a vacuum
pump?

http://www.sigmatek.com/1U478-003/1U...troduction.htm

I do not have an installation that readily allows a wet pump, and most of
the folks on our field believe that dry pumps are the worst idea that have
been propogated on GA in a long time

Reliability?
Does it provide good vacuum comparable to rotary vane types?
How many hours do you have on it?

Thanks in advance

Doug

Change your dry pump every 500 hours and be happy...

I put one in a cheroke archer and it failed within 30
hours. Got another one from the factory, put it in and that
one failed within 40 hours. Both failures was seizure of
the piston and breakage of the plastic drive coupling.
Talking with one of the employees at the factory indicated
that they were having a problem with this sort of thing
happening and they were working on a solution. They offered
to replace the second one with another unit. I said no
thanks, just give me my money back. I went back to a Rapco
vane type pump. Had to eat the shipping costs and labor for
all the installs. That is my experience with these
pumps.......
