Default What is going on with OLC?

1. The flights for OLC-League are now being scored on the basis of a
single leg, which means that unless your longest leg is 2.5 hours you
will be penalized. Maybe this is just a software error.

2. For each pilot's flight, there are not only scores for OLC-Classic,
OLC-FAI, and OLC-League, but recently also something called Destination.
Anyone know what this is? It seems to square the normal "Index"
(glider handicap), which penalizes faster ships. And it has something
called Pilot Factor -- is OLC now attempting to handicap pilots? I have
had no luck figuring out how these factors interact to produce the
Destination score.

The 2010 OLC League hasn't started yet. The Destination bit is
another way for small clubs to win!
I dunno mate, moren my jobsworth.
Jim

And a bad translation...

OBJECTIVE The Destination competition has to promote and make the goal
the en-route flight more popular even in smaller associations. For
this purpose the flight performances are related in such a way with
the performance level of the pilot to compare and.

VALUATION The evaluation of the flights takes place on basis that, in
the OLC Classic competition reached kilometer. To these raw points
afterwards three further factors are included. With these factors it
concerns pilot factor, homeland place factor and airplane factor. To
promote the homeland place factor imported around the en-route flight
also at the domestic airfield. For this reason each flight receives of
the homeland airfield the full score, to each flight outside of
however only 80% of the points. It concerns with destination an
airfield competition, therefore the flights and pilot of all
associations emerge, which reside at the respective airfield. For the
allocation from the associations to the airfields a list of the OLC is
responsible. If this list in some places should be incorrect, we would
be pleased on about mail .

PILOT FACTOR The pilot factor basedly on the personal en-route flight
best performance of the pilot and is divided into the following
stages: Largest distance Factor Per cent of the points Smaller than 50
km 4.0 400% Smaller than 100 km 3.0 300% Smaller than 300 km 2.0 200%
Smaller than 500 km 1.6 160% Smaller than 700 km 1.4 140% Smaller than
1000 km 1.2 120% More largely than 700 km 1.0 100% For the sake of the
Fairness we ask all pilots already registered to examine and if
necessary correct their factor in registration. If a flight should be
submitted, which leads to a new factor, then the factor is updated
automatically. Special case: Doppelsitzige of flights 1. One flies
doppelsitzig, then the pilot factor of the better pilot counts. The
flight is rated however nevertheless only for the main pilot. 2. If
the main pilot did not reach the factor 2,0 yet, then its pilot factor
increases despite if necessary large air route not, if the copilot
possesses a better pilot factor. (Special arrangement for bspw. En-
route flight briefings with pupil as a main pilot)

AIRPLANE FACTOR The airplane factor is based on the DAeC index of the
airplane. In order the older types of aircraft, on which, a better
chance is usually trained to give, the normal index is strengthened.
This reached by squaring index. This can be clarified on the basis of
some examples: Airplane Index Per cent of the points Airplane factor
Per cent of the points ASH 25 124 80,64% 1.5376 65,04% Hornet 100
100,00% 1.0 100,00% Ka8 78 128,21% 0.6084 164,37%

RANK LIST To the computation of the rank list the points of the three
point-highest flights of the respective pilot are added in the season
and lead to its total score. Destination winner is a pilot with the
highest total score.

Yes and no. The OLC League score is used for Speed-OLC, and pilots have
been competing in the Speed-OLC all year.

OLC, rules, scroll to the bottom, destination rules (German only) and
click

Good point on the Speed OLC using the League time frame for scoring.
Checking Speed OLC daily scores shows that the League is how they
score each flight for speed.
