I've compared minimap to PDA's PNA's and other common devices and the
display is far more readable even in bright sun yet it still has simple
touch screen operation or can also optionally be controlled with the
keyboard. Since the minimap can run different soaring software and use a
variety of GPS or GPS Data-loggers it's really a matter of the user choosing
what they like to use alon with the display to have the system of their
choice with the best hardware. Having already sold several minimaps and had
great responses, some testimonials and youtube video links are on my page

Several minimaps in stock in all configurations are also in stock now at
Wings & Wheels website at www.wingsandwheels.com

I have been very happy with the minimap. One year ago I replaced the
ipaq 3955 PDA with the minimap and flew with it throughout the 2011
season. The display is much brighter and easier to read in the
cockpit. The screen is larger than the PDA for the same footprint as
the PDA. There is no battery to keep charged as with the PDA. I have
it coupled with a 302 and use SeeYou on the minimap.

I have sold systems connecting the Lx Navigation MiniMap to the
following devices. The sunlight readabiltiy is much better that the
PDAs but not as good as the large screen Craggy Aero Ultimate Le.
I have the experience to provide phone support to help you setup the
systems.

CAI 302 - MiniMap
Colibir - MiniMap KBV
Colibri II MiniMap V
Nano - LX NAV V7 - MiniMap
Colibri II - V7 - MiniMap
PowerFlarm - V7 - MiniMap
PowerFlarm Minimap KBV
Garmin 18, MiniMap KBVGPS NAV MiniMap
GPS NAV MiniMap KBV

Software customer usually chose SeeYou PNA, LK8000, StrePla

My prices are very competative especially when you consider the setup
and ongoing support phone support.

I am also a Authorized Service center for Lx Navigation.

Call if you want to talk about the advantage of each system.

I'll add another vote of appreciation for the MiniMap. I replaced an
Oudie with the MiniMap and have to say that there is just no
comparison. While the MiniMap may not stand up to the big bucks
options, it if far more readable than the PDA/PNA/Oudie solutions.

Which PDA are you looking to replace?
Consider the performance of up-to-date PDAs:

I found this to be helpful:

http://www.cumulus-soaring.com/pda.htm

Note that a fair comparison of these systems would be one with recent
PDAs with transflective displays that have excellent sunlight
readability.
I found the (now slightly outdated) HP iPAQ 310/312/314 series of
portable navigation devices very nice - the screen is extremely bright
and works great even in sunlight.
It runs WinCE, so it will run a range of gliding software. I have two
of these, but find that powering them externally is possible, but
problematic. The battery doesn't last very long.

The other popular option has been to use an Android device. The Dell
Streak 5 (available, just like the iPAQ, probably for around £130-170,
e.g. on eBay) has an excellent, transflective, sunlight-readable
display, which is even better than the iPAQ 310. The battery lasts a
long time (several hours). It is extremely easy to update, and
software can be installed very comfortably. There's a built-in GPS,
and you can hook it up to Varios via different means, including
Bluetooth (haven't tried yet, but others are using it that way).
The Streak runs Android, and as such is limited to XCSoar (an
excellent choice).
