Default Engine Data Plate

Hi,

I've got one question. Is it possible to check what is the serial number of
an engine if the engine data plate is suspected not to be a true one ? I
want to buy a Cessna 150 but the data plate looks a little bit strange and I
am not sure if it is correct.

Can you advise me the way to check it ?

Best regards

Mike /Poland/
