It looked like the pilot got the tow rope, and the glider went for the ride. That surprised me. The next video that played had me also surprised to see a drogue chute used for the landing! -- Eric Greenwell - Washington State, USA (change ".netto" to ".us" to email me) - "A Guide to Self-Launching Sailplane Operation" https://sites.google.com/site/motorg...ad-the-guide-1 |

Nick T That was nifty - seems like a good use for electrics. Except the part about burning out both motors... It looked like the pilot got the tow rope, and the glider went for the ride. That's how hang-glider aerotow works... The next video that played had me also surprised to see a drogue chute used for the landing! These machines are high enough LD that landing without drag devices can be a PITA. Some have deployable drag device on the extended keel. I spent today trying to repair my electric machine, aaarrggg.... With a nice break when Nico visited for a socially distant lunch! Failure #24 fixed, #23 still intermittent (I HATE intermittent problems)... See ya, Dave |

See ya, Dave We were too late to make the big bucks as engineers explaining cats, but I see a window for a second chance at fame: engineers explaining electric propulsion to HG pilots. "Plane Talk by Dave and Eric" will never match Car Talk in audience numbers, but we could earn enough that you could trade the Antares in for an AS34. -- Eric Greenwell - Washington State, USA (change ".netto" to ".us" to email me) - "A Guide to Self-Launching Sailplane Operation" https://sites.google.com/site/motorg...ad-the-guide-1 |

Power mostly from modified large model motors. Some adapting electric tool batteries. Power below needs for sailplanes. Max about 15kw. UH |
