Default Canada to order replacement for the Sea King

Finally! Canada to place an order for the replacement of the Sea King.
Two companies are in contention, the original manufacturer of the EH-101
that was cancelled a number of years ago and an American company.
According to news reports the cheapest bidder will have the inside track.
Delivery is not expected for about four years. The duct tape manufactures
must be ecstatic as a BIG order will have to go in for that in order to keep
the aged Sea Kings flying until the new choppers arrive. ;-) The Red Green
duct tape techs still have a life!
Hang in there RCN! Things may be looking up!

Donate your memories - write a note on the back and send those old photos to a
reputable museum, don't take them with you when you're gone.

I hate to tell you this but the EH101 being made by Agusta-Westland is alive
and well serving in the Royal Navy, RAF, Italian Armed Forces adn they have
already replaced the Labrador in RCAF Search And Rescue service amongst
others.

True. A search and rescue version of the EH101 known as the Cormorant
is replacing the Labrador. The Conservative government had placed an order
for ~50 EH10ls. Two different configurizations, one ASW type to replace the
Sea King and the SAR version to replace the Lab. The Liberals cancelled the
order, paying large cancellation fees when they won the election. They will
now be placing an order for ~26 Choppers to replace the Sea King naval
version. Two companies are in the competition, the European Consortium that
makes the EH101 and Sikorski with their version. There was a third company
interested in bidding. Lockheed/Martin I think, that is considering a law
suit for not being in the running. It could be another company but I think
I'm correct.
