Actually, visually flying to a point in a crosswind is one of the
circumstances where homing can accidentally occur. Aiming straight for the
point is the same as centering the ADF needle.

Yes, if you fly "to" a point. But if you line up two points, one of which is
the one you're flying to, and keep them lined up as you fly, then you are
tracking. Visually.

So you ignore the verification that all of your onboard instrumentation
can provide? That might be a fine method for teaching primary students
the concept of pilotage, but it seems a little foolish in practice.

Why would I not want to use all available information to verify that I
am where I think I am?
