Does anyone out there know how I can download/read files with this extension
on a Mac (Tiger 10.4.11) using "Entourage version 10.1.4" I feel I'm missing
a lot of information being distributed by the group being a poor Mac user.
Willing to pay (only a little though) if need be

Much as I like Entourage, it's certainly not the best when it comes to binary
newsgroups and, as far as I know, there's nothing equivalent to OE-yEnc.

Your best bet is to get hold of a dedicated newsreader like MT-Newswatcher.
