Annual Iowa City Fly-In Breakfast August 28
Our annual Sertoma (SERvice TO MAnkind) breakfast will be held here in
Iowa City on Sunday, August 28th. They always lay out a good spread, and all proceeds go to benefit a good cause. This year they're adding a few ground displays -- an Air National Guard Chinook, and an old C-47/DC-3 from World War II. Put it on your calendar -- it's always a great time! -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

We'll have our booth there, handing out balloons to the kids and spreading the aviation gospel... :-) And if you're flying 3 - 4 hours, I might suggest joining us the night before? I haven't been at the inn for a couple of days, but last I looked we had plenty of availability. -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

Owatonna had a good turnout at its Fly-In this morning with a wide range of aircraft types there; RV-x's, Cessna 140 to 337, a lot of various experimentals, warbirds, etc... Probably 80-100+ aircraft total. If I had gotten up and left earlier today, I would have tried IOW instead of OWA. This was a cheaper breakfast, with fruit!. ;-) -Greg B. remove dot |

7am - 1pm
Hosted by: Iowa City Sertoma Clubs Iowa City, Iowa Municipal Airport For more information: 319-338-9222 (Jim) Hey Jay, how was the turnout??? Awesome! The weather was perfect, and the crowds were very, very large. We ran out of ribbon for the helium balloons we were handing out to the kids, and we ran out of coupons that we were handing out to the people who stopped at our booth. We got a zilliion entries in out drawing (for a free night in the honeymoon suite), and everyone seemed to really enjoy the food and airplanes. Jim & Tami Burns flew down in their pristine Aztec, and we had a great time with them and their most excellent kids. I don't know how many planes flew in, total, but it seemed like a heavy turnout. Certainly more than last year. And the DC-3 was AWESOME. Mary and I finagled jump-seat rides on it, and, wow, what a cool old plane. I took a few zillion pix of the day, and will be posting them to our webpage soon. One of these years you've got to figure out how to make that Ercoupe fly in Iowa. Geez, we're not *that* far away! ;-) -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

I'm jealous!
I love DC-3's, worked a contract in NC and a guy there had done alot of time restoring and flying them out of Athens GA on cargo runs. I don't remember the name of the company, but both he and his wife were pilots on them. I'd love to go for a flight in one! There is a WHOLE BUNCH OF STUFF missing between these two paragraphs. Details. I want DETAILS. {;-) This morning we jumped in their van and met up with them at IOW where they had our kids, Nick and Megan, together with Becca, busy blowing up balloons There was also a small car show of mostly vintage Porches and other mega buck sports cars. Were these front Porches or back Porches? Jim |

The Ercoupe will fly in Iowa, just hasn't been in that part, yet. So, I just misspelled today and went to OWA instead of IOW, close enough??? ;-) One of these days... |
