This picture is a great panorama of the countryside to the west of RAF
Valley, home of No. 4 FTS and its BAe Hawks.

The village of Valley is just below the aircraft's wings. (RAF Valley
behind the plane but not visible.) The causway which carries the road
(A5 and A55 North Wales Expressway) and railway From Anglesey to Holy
Island/Holyhead. The tall chimney is RTZ's aluminium smelter. To the
left of the causeway is the so-called Inland Sea. When the tide goes
out, there is a very strong tidal race out of the Inland Sea through a
very narrow gap in the causeway and also through an exit to the sea at
Four Mile Bridge which can just be seen below and slightly to the left
of the plane's tail. The Four Mile Bridge exit runs out to the sea at
Cymyran, just at the western boundary of RAF Valley. The strong
current made it a favourite for young daredevil bathers. There is a
fantastic sandy beach along RAF Valley's southwest boundary. And, of
course, in the background is Holyhead Mountain - all of about 700
feet.

The pictures of aircraft in this newsgroup are great, but sometimes it
is the backgrounds which tug at the emotions.
