GlideFast Course Synopsis

Course Concept
Glidefast courses have the key characteristics of being:
intensive, applied, focussed, challenging and fun.

Intensive
There are a range of approaches to coaching to suit various needs and
contexts, such as:

o Regatta style coaching which attracts a large number and range of
pilots.
o Informal individualised club coaching.
o Coaching at competitions.
o Coaching courses.

GlideFast courses are meant to be small and intensive. The
optimum number of participants is 8 and 10 is the maximum.
Having a smaller number of pilots makes it possible to focus
on individual performance.

Applied
A leading principle in the choice of content for the GlideFast
courses is the application of knowledge and theory. It is one
thing to know what needs to be done to achieve high level
cross-country performance, but it is another to know how to
achieve improved performance. The GlideFast course starts
with what it is that you need to being doing in the air and then
provides explanation with theory as needed.

Focussed
The extent and range of knowledge and skills for gliding that
can be learned is enormous - there is potential for more than a
lifetime of learning. It is possible to be overwhelmed by theory
and information. The GlideFast course uses the principle of
focusing on the things that matter in order of priority rather
than trying to cover everything.

Challenging
The key to making progress in improving cross-country
performance is to be challenged. While maintaining
appropriate safety margins, the boundaries of your comfort
zone should be pushed. The GlideFast course provides an
opportunity for participants to push the boundaries and try
different ways of flying.

Fun
A key objective of the GlideFast courses is to inspire pilots to
be ambitious with their cross-country flying and to recognise
the many possibilities to achieve. A persistent outcome of this
journey to achievement, at all levels, should be fun and
enjoyment.
