Plug for Jay & Mary
shamelessPlug
Thanks to Jay & Mary at the Alexis Park Inn. Had a great little mini-honeymoon there. Thanks for use of the van to check out the Amana colonies. Very good eating there. Much smoother ride back home over 6,000 ft. The missus actually slept. ;-) Thanks again! /shamelessPlug PP-ASEL |

I enjoy the little grass strip there, and someday when I get up there again this year I'll drop by and say hi to Jay, it's not that far. |

Thanks, Steven! We enjoyed having you and your bride stay with us. You
picked a nice, quiet time for a getaway! And I'll "second" Matt's plug for flying into Amana -- although the sod may be a bit soft yet this season. IMO, you made the right choice, "flying" the van over. (BTW, Matt: Amana is less than 10 minutes away, by air...) -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

(BTW, Matt: Amana is less than 10 minutes away, by air...) Yeah, I'll drop in on you guys next time I'm up that way. I usually get by there 2 maybe 3 times a year, the fudge they make is pretty good, as are some of the other deserts. Though not as good as the Cheesecake at Miami County (K81), now that's good stuff. |

I think you've got Amana confused with the Wisconsin Dells! :-) (I've never actually seen fudge for sale in the Amana Colonies, and I've been there dozens of times now... Did Germans make/eat fudge? Martin?) The old German restaurants have the best desserts I've ever found, anywhere. The Brick Haus in Amana makes a "German Fruit Pie" that is worth flying here just to taste! And their micro-brewed beer ain't bad, either. -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

The candy shops at Amana have the oddest assortment of fudge I've seen, things from strawberry to maple and everything in between. I've never had the pie, I'll try it next I'm there. One thing I would say is they give you your monies worth when you buy the food. |

Well, the old ladies at the Brick Haus in Amana will simply keep bringing more food until you cry "Uncle!" -- or explode -- whichever comes first. It's like eating at my great-Aunt's house in Wisconsin. A true German experience! -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |
