Actually we send some CF-18s to fly out of Comox quite regularly,
though none are stationed there. They don't advertise that information anywhere so you really have to check with ATC when you are in the area to see what is going on. It shouldn't represent any problem as long as you remember to ask first! Brendan Grace "Paul Tomblin" wrote in message ... In a previous article, (Paul Tomblin) said: In a previous article, said: Vancouver center (?) and airliners did indeed use it. The voodoos left in 1984, replaced for at least a short time by CF 18s. I don't know if there are still CF 18s at Comox. I think all the CF-18s in Canada are back in Trenton. And at least 2/3rds of them are in a warehouse in Trenton. Oh, I'm wrong - the flying ones are in Bagotville and Cold Lake. But none are in Comox, and that's the germaine part to this discussion. http://www.airforce.forces.gc.ca/equip/equip1m_e.asp -- Paul Tomblin http://xcski.com/blogs/pt/ Some days violence is just a nice quick solution to a problem that would need thought, planning and actual work to do justice to. -- Wayne Pascoe |

Negative. I am in the Canadian military (Air Force) and Comox is
most definitely NOT a fighter base. It does on occasion host CF-18s in limited numbers. "steve" wrote in message news Slim to none.....Comox is a fighter base with frequent activity....just go under |

I thought CFB Comox is the home of 442 Squadron "Search and rescue". To my
understanding CF-18's are there only occasionaly when visiting out of CFB Cold Lake Alberta. "Brendan Grace" wrote in message ... Negative. You are part correct. We have a Maritime Patrol squadron and a
Search and Rescue squadron based at Comox. Occasionally CF-18s from Cold Lake fly out of Comox. Use the link to learn more about Comox. It is the official military site available on the internet. http://www.airforce.dnd.ca/19wing/site/index_e.asp Brendan Grace "onsitewelding" wrote in message news:hj6Dc.900280$Ig.419617@pd7tw2no... I guess that I am lucky then, I was cleared through direct both ways and
there were military aircraft using the airspace. Mike MU-2 "steve" wrote in message news Slim to none.....Comox is a fighter base with frequent activity....just go under "Mike Rapoport" wrote in message link.net... What type of airspace is the restricted airspace north of Vancouver Island. Flightmap lists it as COMOX and says that it reaches from 18,000MSL to Unlimited. It is big, about 165nm on the NS axis and 110nm EW. What are my chances at getting cleared through it at FL240? Thanks! Mike MU-2 |
