Default Multiple Platform Simulator

What suggestions for hardware can anyone provide me with to build a
simulator capable of operating on multiple software platforms, i.e.
Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane as a minimum plus as many other
software simulators as feasible? I would like the flexibility to keep the
hardware as open-ended as possible to take advantage of various scenery,
aircraft, etc. which are available for various simulators.

GoFlight hardware is supported by both FS2004 and X-Plane. Furthermore,
a keymapper application is under development that will allow you to
control *any* function that maps to a keystroke, in any simulator (or
other application for that matter).
