Hi Bill,

I highly recommend the Keyspan USA-19HS USB to serial adapter. You can get
them from Amazon.com for about$29.

It can be setup to use Com 1.

I don't recommend using the DOS software. I recommend the Cambridge Aero
Explorer software for Windows. You can download it he
http://www.cumulus-soaring.com/cai_gps-nav.htm at the bottom of the page.

I can help you setup the USB to serial adapter if necessary. Be sure to
install the software that comes on the CD with the USB to Serial adapter
before connecting it to the computer.

Best Regards,

Easy..

plug in the USB-Serial adapter.
then, Control Panel | System | Hardware | Device manager | Ports (COM
& LPT) ... find the COm Port being used by your USB dongle, right
click it and select Properties.
Select the Port Settings Tab, followed by the Advanced button, now
change the Com port number to something sensible (1-4) and save your
changes.

enjoy.

(this might appear twice - I posted it early this morninng but it
hasn't appeared!)
