PIK 20 Trailer Axle

I am looking for an axle for a PIK 20 trailer, or something that is
similar. If you have one or have any ideas of where to find one I
would be much obliged.

Good luck with that; I had to put a new, American-made axle under my
trailer and I have no brakes on the trailer as a result. One consolation
is that the wheels are 4 inches farther apart and it trails better.

You should have upgraded to electric brakes if you changed your axle
and still wanted brakes without braking the bank. They are superior in
every measurable category except they req a controller installed in
the towing vehicle. You also could have gotten the exact size you
want, since they are sold in every track width and you have the
mounting pads welded at custom locations based on your provided specs.
I like the Torflex axle, it's a torsion type with independent
suspension and makes single axle trailers drive reeeaalll nice, custom
made for a scant $160. Sounds like you had unhelpful people 'helping'
you with your trailer. Glad it sorta worked in your favor at least...

I put a Dexter axle on my Cobra. They offer a 1000kg (2200lb)
torsional axle seems it was about $650 + wheels were about $40 ea.
That's considering you're in the USA

Forgot to mention that the Dexter had that electric brake option I
opted for looks like the Torflex does also. Most all US made vehicles
that have towing packs already have the wiring for the electric brake
module it's pretty much plug and play.

I was on the road trailering to Marfa several years ago, trapped in a bad
situation, and the only help I could get was at an 18-wheeler repair
facility. They drove me 20 miles to a place where I could buy an axle and
new wheels. It was a sad, sad story.

Assuming that Taylor is in the USA...
Another source is Axle, Inc of Elkhart Indiana.
They build Hayes leaf spring or Alko torsion bar suspension axles to
your spec. Electric or hydraulic brake option.
Bear in mind that neither electric nor hydraulic have a simple parking
brake, like the European mechanical brake systems.

If the mounting dimensions are the same as the newer Cobra trailer
axles, those are in stock at Williams Soaring, with mechanical brakes.
Newer being the ones with a single-piece floor, slightly wider than
the multi-piece ribbed floor models.

On my Dexter axle they had an option for a mechanical parking brake
lever coming out of each drum which I modified the parking lever or
should I say the linkage under the trailer added a cable to the
levers. So when I park and drop the trailer, lever over and it holds
quite nice. See page 7 on the PDF below.
