only knew how much of a passenger plane was glued together as opposed to
riveted you might not fly. I think they also weigh less then the paint
it would take to cover the area.



the glue is stronger than rivits and bonds alonf the entire seam and not at
jusr som,e spaced points.

Decals are indeed used on jets, I know from personal experience. They're
damn good ones too - you better make double dog sure you got it aligned
right with no wrinkles before you start stickinner on!! No second chances -
damn things are expensive.
We use an edge sealer to keep them from trying to peel over time....

Am a (ret) Airframes/Powerplant tech by trade - worked in corrosion control
several years, as I used to paint planes as well. grin

No decals - Mask off, and paint using epoxy polyamides!

You're talking military aircraft - not commercial? The military uses
decals...
