Supposedly Orville was very concerned about someone copying the design. So
the one in the Smithsonian is not to the original design. AOPA mag had several articles on this and the differences are significant. "Steven P. The 1903 Flyer was returned to Dayton in crates and remained in them until 1916. By then there was no reason to copy the design. |
