Default PIREP: FeatherLite headset

All,

I just bought one of those FeatherLite headsets off of Ebay.
I figured for $40, what could it hurt?
I was pleasantly surprised!
It seems to be a quality product.
It is light, has a flex-boom mic, and folds up really small.
Noise attenuation is on par with the other headsets I've used.

The only downside I can think of is the mic.
I'm not sure, but I think it is an omnidirectional mic.
It seems to pick up a lot of noise.
I noticed that if I cup my hand in front of my mouth and the mic when on the
PTT, the noise seemed less.
That's what made me think it was omnidirectional.
That said, even without cupping my hand, the noise is not *that* bad.

Bottom Line:
Dollar-for-dollar, the best headset I've used.
Can be small enough for a small child, or large enough for large adult.
I would highly recommend these over any other for use for pax.
As a student, I bought an Avcomm AC-200 for $89.
This one is just as good for half the price.

Sometimes a good deal really isn't too good to be true ;-)

You can get little mike covers that are like little bags that go over
the foam with holes just in the part that face your lips. That might
cut down on the excess noise getting into the mic.

Anybody have a link they'd care to share? I turn up everything from bras
to shoes, weedeaters to horse trailers with a simple "FeatherLite"
search and nothing when "headset" is added...

There's a bunch on Ebay. Usually a couple ending each day...

Thanks for showing me what to look for...

I was thinking it was something like the Plantronics with a name like
that, obviously it isn't...

How is it covert? Many businesses depend on satisfied customers to
spread the word about their products. You think that's a secret?

Here, let's make it an all-out conspiracy...years ago I bought a
Bose X headset for my wife and we liked it so much that I bought a
set for me. They continue to be our best headsets.

Of course we could have puchased 43 of the FeatherLites for the
same price...

I still like your pricing on the chart sectionals...

Any new developments for flying with them?
