Default Looking for Dennis Gallotti low-altitude visual effects letter

On the subject of low altitude training:
Dennis Gallotti wrote an excellent letter to Soaring,
IIRC sometime 1984-1986, about visual effects that cause
problems with low-altitude turns. I've misplaced it,
and a couple folks have asked me about it...

Anybody know where to find this?

Thanks!
Best Regards, Dave

Once you find it, I can convert it into a Word doc.

At some point, we should get a volunteer team together to create a searchable database of all past issues of Soaring by article title. How valuable would that be to all of us?

Converting the entire archive to searchable text is doable...
I think Dennis's note was a "Letter to the Editor" but I'm not sure.

I think the name you may be looking for is Dennis Gaiotti. The Soaring Archive is word searchable, especially with the correct terms, wildcards, and quotes.

Number of articles with "low altitude turns", but several are later. Hope you find it.

Bob "Bookshelf" Whelan may chime in with the item anytime, or not.

Just a few months ago there was a training article in SOARING magazine on pivotal altitudes. If this is what you are thinking about, although not the author you are looking for, it is about how seeing more ground and less sky down lower causes a tendency to pitch up; thus getting slow.

Even if this is not the subject you are interested, nonetheless it is a good subject to teach.

Nope (unless Soaring mis-printed his name)
