Default LXNAV 8000 OAT Incorrect

Not just the "gentle observation" but from a continuous stream of abuse
leveled at the US, especially and surprisingly from Australia.Â* Of
course that was just one person.Â* I've made several trips to Australia
and always loved the country and the people.Â* I'm just tired of the the
metric-centric bunch and their almost daily tirades about us.Â* The
metric system is great!Â* Use it in good health but, please, get off our
backs because we choose to use the imperial system.

Not at all.Â* Winning independence from an oppressive government does not
mean that a country must cleanse itself of everything taken from that
government, nor does receiving help from the French in our war of
independence mean that we have to take their form of government,
measurements, literature, etc.Â* What's ironic is that the rest of the
world can't stay out of our business.Â* Everyone hates the USA, yet they
all line up for the benefits to be gained from the US. Take care of
yourselves for a change, pay your own bills for once, and leave us
alone.Â* And you might take the UN with you when you leave.

And you get all that from a gentle observation!? Quite alarming really.

Yup and we fixed all of that, too, and propped up Europe and Japan for a

This is the kind of isolationism that worked quite well.

Nice try, Jonathan.
What a load of rubbish this has turned into!
Is the LX8000 sensor working properly yet?

Worth bearing in mind that the OAT signal actually goes to the vario and
not the LX main unit.

The spec of the probe was changed a few years ago when some new vario types
were introduced (we had to fit a new probe when we upgraded to the V9
vario) so if you have changed the vario recently you may have the wrong
probe.

Also make sure the probe cable hasn't been cut and repaired, my
understanding is that you can't do this as it changes the resistance of the
unit and throws the readings off so if it has you need a new probe.

Thanks Nick,

I have traced the wiring and do not see a damaged wire. This LX8000 and V8 were already installed in the aircraft when I purchased it. I didn't know the probe connected to the vario, I'm reading OAT on the LX8000. I'm still clueless as to why it is consistently off by 20 degrees F.

Earlier I posted "Email your problem to ". Have you received
a reply? I have found them to be quite helpful.

Deming, as someone suggested earlier I would email LX, they respond very
quickly and always seem keen to sort out their users problems.
