Default AFM coverage of Chinook shootdown

Thought this might interest you.

"Nov 2 US Army Co/159th AVN CH-47D Chinook
Tail rotor pylon hit by one of two SA-7 Strela shoulder-launched
surface-to-air missiles fired from a date palm grove at 0900hrs whilst
flying with another Chinook, which was undamaged. The two were ferrying
around 60 troops from the US military Camp Rideway base at Habbaniyah in
western Iraq to Baghdad International Airport prior to going an rest and
recreation leave. The helicopter, which was supporting the 82nd Airborne
Division, was destroyed when it crashed in corn fields near the village
of Balsa 6 miles (10km) south of Fallujah, 32 miles (50km) west of
Baghdad. A total of 16 of the 33 personnel and three crew on board were
killed and the other 20 injured, many seriously."
