New version of Glide Navigator II Available
Glide Navigator II Users,
A new version of Glide Navigator II is now available. Glide Navigator II remains one of the best selling (most popular) soaring flight software programs available. Version 2.41 March 15, 2006 This version fixes a number of bugs and adds a few new features. Unfortunately, we don't have an exact list of changes because changes were made as requested over a period of time. Below are a few items that have changed. Let us know if you find any other changes or bug fixes that we should document. a.. Support for US Contest Rule Changes Turn Area Tasks (Assigned Area Tasks) now support a maximum area radius of 30 statute miles. Turn Area Tasks (Assigned Area Tasks) support of to 8 turnpoints. Standard Tasks such as "Assigned Tasks" and "Modified Assigned Tasks" support up to 14 turnpoints. b.. Improved "PDA Logger" Flight logs generated by Glide Navigator II as you fly and saved on a memory card now have an improved header file which makes it easier to view the files in SeeYou and StrePla. Glide Navigator II still does not allow you to enter a Pilot Name or Glider Type into the software so you will need to edit those data fields in the IGC file manually. Note: This relates only to flight logs generated by GN II as you fly. It does not relate to flight logs downloaded from external GPS flight recorders. The new version is available he http://www.cumulus-soaring.com/gn_downloads.htm A revision history is available he http://www.cumulus-soaring.com/gn_revs.htm Pocket PC Training CD I created a "Pocket PC Training" CD for pilots that are new to Pocket PCs. The training CD consists of a menu with links to several short videos. The introduction includes an overview of terminology and tips. The remaining videos are short narrated computer screen-capture videos which walk you through common tasks. I recommend going through all the videos in order and then re-viewing segments as necessary. The CD is a great spring refresher course to help you remember what you need to know before getting back into your glider in the spring. Total Running Time: 24:39. You can see details he http://www.cumulus-soaring.com/training.htm Glide Navigator II and Pocket PC Tips Documents I have also created a few Tips documents that are available on the Glide Navigator II downloads web page at: http://www.cumulus-soaring.com/gn_downloads.htm I highly recommend that you download them and read them. They include: "Glide Navigator II Tips and Setup Procedure" and "Pocket PC Tips". They have been updated quite a bit over the last year. The Glide Navigator II manual is also available for download from that page - reading it will help you get the most out of your new software. I have tested the new version on Compaq Aero 1520, 1550 and several iPAQs. Let us know if you have any issues with it. Good Soaring, Paul Remde Cumulus Soaring, Inc.
