Whew. All done.
Got to the airport at 4pm to some pretty dark skies. Oral started around 4:45. Spent almost an hour just getting the 8710 right & verifying hours, verifying plane was current, etc. Did a flight plan, went over charts, procedures, lost-comm, etc. Looked at a couple weather charts, decoded METARs, TAFs and Sigmets. Got a local briefing & decided weather was good for a local flight. Things had lifted up to about 6,000 with a chance for 3SM & 035CB. We were sticking close. Did a hold, steep-turns, unusual attitudes, timed turns, etc. Came back in partial panel & did the VOR22 approach. Got my gyros back & did an ILS22. Got setup for a LOC22 circle to 31 & had to mow through the localizer & spin back around for traffic coming in. Interesting. Did my circle (really hard holding that MDA. He didn't want me higher or lower. All done. 1.7 hobbs. When we got back in, he told my CFII, "I'm not gonna pass him. He flies better than me. I can't have that." Once my heart started beating again, we filled out my new certificate. Very cool. 3.8 of actual & looking for more..... "Roger Halstead" wrote in message ...
