Very fun flight. Thanks to Terry for having an open seat for me to join. There was a strong and deep inversion in the Santa Ynez valley. It would have been a very difficult day to get away in a pure glider, especially given the lack of a towplane at Santa Ynez. But once on top of the San Rafael range it was excellent with only one stumbling block at Mt. Langley where we turned under pretty significant overcast from OD to the west.

Terry had a commitment back in Santa Barbara so we needed to turn pretty early. Was easily a 750km day with a bit earlier launch and a later landing. The fog kept SBA IFR until well after 11am, delaying my arrival. Gotta work on that instrument rating...

The Santa Ynez/Santa Barbara area has excellent potential for 1000k on the right day.
