I got my new CFI and Commercial certificates in the mail today. The new
cert's have the Wright Brothers on the back and a 737 and the Wright Flyer
on the front. A little FAA hologram in the lower right corner of the blue
and green hard plastic card. Name, address, certificate number and

ratings
on the front and ratings on the back. Signature strip on the back for you
to sign.

Actually I didn't request them, I took my CFI checkride in May and have been
waiting for the permanent certs to come. I was surprised when they came
that they were the new style.

I also passed my CFI checkride in May and got the new certs in the
mail on Tuesday. They are a much-needed improvement over the old
paper ones, but the contrast (at least on mine) is really bad. They
used a small, black font against an image that has some rather dark
areas. The result: portions of the card are really difficult to
decipher in some light conditions. Still...it's a step in the right
direction.

Too bad the new CFI cert was superceded before I even got it...with a
temporary for my CFII which still refers to my old pilot cert/number.

Are they thick? I carry 3 certificates and don't want my wallet to be
a lump when I sit down.
