As described in the new FAA Glider Flying Handbook page 7-14.

There's even an illustration. She must be pretty small, I can't
really see her in the glider.


It's not even a typo, as the misspelling continues in every instance.

Not that I can't appreciate the FAA trying to assist glider pilots by
publishing wench procedures. I am under the impression, though, that
operating wenches is illegal in most jurisdictions.

Thanks for pointing this out. The illustration says, "wench procedures".
What a great handbook!! Covers my favorite sport and will help with the
ladies too! I do have a problem though, my wife won't let me attach the tow
line to her in preparation for her first launch.
