Default Model 20 OLC issues

So I am relatively new to my Cambridge model 20, and I tried submitting the
trace from the logger to the OLC. I followed the instructions on the clear
nav page using their converter tool, but still got the red V.

Anyone else have the same issue or have an idea where I went wrong?

Thanks

Peter

Thanks Evan, that is the process I followed. I downloaded the log using ConnectMe on the oudie. I then ran the conversion program, and I even checked the file security, and it validated as secure. I just had it calibrated and resealed at Cumulus soaring, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I use the old DOS program to get the log file from my Model 20. It is very likely that something got added to the file or the naming convention was changed from the Cambridge standard with the path you used to get the file. Since you are styaing "old school" with a Model 20, suggest staying all "old school" and not using ConnectMe or the Oudie to get the file from the Cambridge. I don't have any experience with them, so I can't say for sure, but that is my suspicion. I do know that the old TI Extensa running Windows 98 without the need for a USB to Serial adapter (because it has a REAL, functioning serial port!) and the Clearnav conversion program works just fine..

I'd put my money on Steve's analysis. I was more than a little involved in creating the ClearNav utility to fix this OLC submission problem. It's been a couple of years, so I'm hazy on the details, but it starts by having a valid download of the source GPSNAV file. Some third-party programs put extra characters in the file, so that when the GPSNAV original VALI executable runs, it won't be valid.

If you want to test this out, start with the original file that you get from ConnectMe and run it through the VALI-CAM.EXE program which is available he

http://www.fai.org/gnss-recording-devices/free-software (look for Cambridge, and you'll get several executables and a DLL in zip file).

If it passes the initial VALI check, then we need to look elsewhere. Feel free to PM me if you have questions.
