It is good to see Jim still doing well. Long ago, I was one of his
students back at the old Warrenton Soaring Center.

I still remember him singing as we cleared the fence while I fought the
take-off and tow. Nearer my God to thee. What an impression.

That is an old joke from the 1930s. That tune starts
out with a descending melodic line; as the bi-planes
slowed up and approached stall speed the rigging wires
would hum a lower and lower pitch. People, especially
instructors, would say the wires were playing 'Nearer,
My God, To Thee.' It fits and it is a strong message
on base or final.

I like the "miniature version of his ASW-20C glider plane". Strangest
"20" I've ever seen.
