Default Most beautiful Navy jet ever?

Ed,

I will have to agree with you on that one. In flight, the Viggie was one
pretty bird. A Viggie on final and trapping was another story.... Kiss the
deck and thank the air gods....

While the paint jobs are good, both aircraft are loaded with too many
engines and too many crewmembers, not to mention all those lumps,
bumps, proturbences and projections. They might even be some British
design rejection that was insufficiently ugly and abandoned in favor
of a Buccaneer.

No, the most beautiful Navy jet ever was the A-5 Vigilante--it also
had an overabundance of engines, etc, but it was beautiful.

Doh! You're right... the Hustler was one sexy bird!

but then again, I find the B36 one the all time coolest warbirds too.

For land based jets the Hawker Hunter was a real beaut IMHO

How about the most ugly? The Cutlass?

The A-6 Intruder -- especially if you are on the receiving end!

I always thought that the A-3 Skywarrior was pretty ugly, but the Cutlass is
worse.

When the A-3 had a pointed nose, was sans the refueling probe, and had
the turret aft, it had a fetching reto look about it

....Or maneuvering on a crowded flight deck, with that nose strut way aft of the cockpit.

Viggie drivers hadda have very flexible necks and lots of faith in the Yellow Shirts, especially at night or on a slick deck.

BTW the USN had some ugly birds ( F12C, F13C ......

The F11C-2 is still one of the best-looking navy fighters.

but the Brits and French beat them all hollow for uglies.

The Fairey Gannet, for example.

Well, the Scooter wasn't much better was it, with the IFR probe sticking way
out like that? I hated having to park (direct) them on the T-Line because of
that.
