Default Fine days flying

Had an excellent days flying including a visit to Tibenham an old WW2
airfiled in Norfolk. It was the home of the 445th Bomb Group, reknown
for having the worst one day casulttie when 34 aircraft went out and
only 4 returned. A Liberator base it also had actor James Stewart
staioned there.

The trip was just a succession of one disused airbase after another.
It is hard to imagine the courage of so many young men going off on
bombing missions knowing they had a better chance of dying than
surviving.

Today was also the 100th aniversary of powered flight in England so an
interesting day all round.

A few miles to the west is old Buckenham(453rd Bomb Group) which also
hosted James Stewart as well as Walter Mathau.
