Default display question

I'm considering a new laptop with a 15.4" wxga+ 1280x800
pixel display to replace my current 1024x768 lcd display.

Wondering what that wil do for/to FS2004 play.

You're going to get a whole new laptop just to replace your LCD monitor?
Um, okay...

Wondering what that wil do for/to FS2004 play.

Well, you'll have 232K more pixels. The difference between your current
video card and the one you get in your new laptop will make a MUCH more
significant difference in how MSFS performs though.

Was wondering whether would get a black border around the display or an
increase in displayed information.

That would depend both on your monitor settings and the settings in MSFS.
There's no reason you'd get a black border unless you wanted it, nor would
you be restricted to 1024x768 for any reason other than perhaps your own
personal reasons, or lack of a video card capable of higher resolutions.

Bottom line: as far as MSFS goes, you can use any resolution supported by
your video card and monitor combination.
