Default NAS Oceana

Hi all,

A report from a recent short visit to NAS Oceana. It seems that there have
been a lot of changes with codes from the Tomcats. All serials marked with a
* have been looked up in recent reports and/or the Scramble database. Any
help on the gaps will be gratefully received. Although the weather wasn't
what I hoped for, we managed to get some pictures as well. They are at

Sorry, but what exactly means "operating from VFA-106"? You mean they
are aircraft with markings of their final destination squadrons, but
now under the administrative control of VFA-106?

It looks like VF/VFA -11 and -143 having a double sets of aircraft -
one still of Tomcats, and the second of Super Hornets...

BTW, VFA-143's F/A-18E AG-402 was seen at Lemoore, so I would assume
VFA-211 and VFA-143 are the last Oceana squadrons transitioning in
VFA-122 at Lemoore, whereas VFA-103 and VFA-11 the first transitioned
by VFA-106. Right?

Best regards,

Jacek Zemlo

SORRY! It was a stupid question of mine, indeed! - of course, you wrote
about it in your article. I just wondered if that was a common
practice...If so, the number of aircraft in a FRS must be really
fluid...

Best regards,

Jacek
