Default HP iPaq hx4700 issues

I was just curious if anyone experienced this befo
I have a HP hx4700 series palmtop with bunch of batteries, the issue
seems to be that if the battery pack goes dead completely; Ipaq does
not charge it. Then if you install a battery that still holds some
charge and put back in the cradle it will turn on and function
properly. Is there another data loss preventing battery installed
inside maybe?
Any help will be appreciated,

Regards

GK:

I have experienced that same condition on a 5555. I though the unit
was dead and I was ready to ship it back to HP for repair. Then I
found on a HP discussion group that some iPAQ will NOT show signs of
battery charge until battery voltage goes over certain levels... try
leaving your unit on the cradle an hour or two before trying to soft
reset it... hope this helps!

GK,

I had similar experiences to you and KO with several models of iPAQs
since 2004.

Keep your bluetooth turned off, keep the unit charged as much as you
can, do iPAQ Backups regularly, and you will have no trouble.

I found it strange that when I would leave an SD memory card mounted in an
Aero 1500, all batteries including the backup coin-type would die in a few
hours even when powered off.
When I take the SD card out they will sit for a week or so before needing
recharge.

I have an hp 2215 that will completely drain if I use a wifi card. Even if
the card has been removed and the pda is shut off, something gets enabled and
draws the batts down.

maybe something similar is contributing to your problem.

I suspect your iPaq has a backup battery somewhere.
