Did anyone else score higher in this
plane? Udet maybe? Udet wasn't a triplane kinda guy - I have quite a few photos of him, none with a tripe. I don't doubt he may have flown one, but he was a speed freak with a touch of finesse -- I can't see him trading in his faster machine for a slug like the DR 1. That postwar trick of his, the handkerchief wingtip pickup off the ground, was just amazing. he was the best pilot of all. errr, that is meant in the context of between-the-war display fliers. v/r Gordon PS caveat #2 - I know three people, total, that saw him fly (two in DE, one in Long Beach) and that is the source of my comment. |
