Default For Cessna 150-152 owners - Come to Iowa

If any of you are itching to do a longer cross country this year, I
invite you to check out www.cessna150-152.com for information on their
National Fly-in. Held in centrally located Clinton, Iowa, right on the
Mississippi River.

Pilots come from all over the country, but this year the owners want to
increase attendance. They need 125 planes registerd by May 1st.

I'm posting this to the newsgroup because there are several free
registrations available if you contact the club right away. Other
members have generously donated the $50 registration fee so that the
event can go on as it has the past four years.

I am a member of the club and an owner of a '67 C150-G model. Last
year I flew from central Ohio to Iowa and it was by far the best flight
of my life!

Thanks,

Greg Hopp

July 21-24? Hmm. Bumping up against OSH.

Wonder if a different date might have opened more member's schedules?

Or show up at OSH, as a group, like the Bo crowd. There's another V-Tail Bo,
and another, and another...

Montblack, yes it is directly before OSH. Several members caravan in
as soon as the weekend is over. One of the major obstacles is, of
course, the limited range of our beloved 150's.

But by stringing several short trips together, you end up with a fair
X-Country.

And, it is in close prox. to OSH, for those that wish to join in a
caravan headed that way.

Best,

Greg Hopp

Clinton is an outstanding airport, BTW, with two long runways and a very
proactive young airport manager.

It's also the home of Goodenow's Upholstery, so if you're in the market for
a new interior for your 150/152, that'll be a good time to meet Frank.
(Goodenow, the owner.)

And, heck, as long as you guys are so close to Iowa City, stop over on July
23rd for a brat and a cold one, during our Pre-Oshkosh Fly-In Pool Party!

Jay, you *know* I've been thinking of that very thing. I don't suppose
you have any rooms left open that weekend? I have been thinking about
extending my trip further by heading down to Iowa City and to Ottumwa.
For some reason I want to land in "Radar's" hometown. :-) You and
Mary should fly up to Clinton during the weekend. We'll have at least
a Warrior in attendance and all plane lovers are welcome So far we
have 87 registered but need another 38 planes to make it official.

Last year, we even had a Lear mix it up during one of our flying
contests. Talk about 150's scattering everywhere. :-)

Best,

Greg

I haven't been at the inn since Tuesday, but I believe we've got a few left.

Ottumwa is an old Naval Air Station. It's fun to wander around the old
buildings and listen to the ghosts....

Well, we sold the Warrior in 2002. You'd have a Pathfinder instead!

Somehow I suspect that between our fly-in pool party, preparing for OSH, and
trying to keep staffing together so that we can be gone for a week, we'll
not have time to visit Clinton. You'll have to say "Hi" to Frank for me...

:-)
