Default F8U-1 Crusader

U.S. Navy photo.

CVPR-440--Chance Vought Aircraft's F8U-1 Crusader, world's fastest Navy
fighter airplane, pictured during a test flight over the Mojave desert in
California. The F8U-1 flew supersonic straight and level on its maiden
flight March 25, 1955. The day fighter is powered by a Pratt & Whitney J-57
engine with afterburner.

Release for publication approved by U.S. Navy, Chance Vought Aircraft,
Incorporated, Dallas, Texas.
