Default USA: East coast port for import from Europe?

I just got off the phone with a Barthco agent and he explained that
they had one or two glider buyers skip town without paying their bill.
He also said this doesn't mean Barthco won't work with more glider
importers; it means they'll have to pay in advance instead of being a
trusted party.

Tuno:

If you're bringing your ship to Arizona or California, how about
Jacksonville, Florida?

Mike:

My new tow vehicle is in Swedesboro NJ, just a few miles east of
Wilmington and 90 miles from Baltimore.

But if there's a Gulf Stream dealer close enough to another port who's
willing to sell me a 4230 Gollywomper Puller at a lower price, my
travel plans are flexible!

Can anyone offer specific experiences with southern east coast ports?

Brunswick? Charleston? Any others?

Importing a Schleicher and my dealer is goofing off at New Castle. At
least the bum is winning ...

If you don't mind saying, what is the shipping cost?
To the nearest $1000... I'm considering importing
a used glider from the UK. The market is so much bigger
there.

Thanks,
Sarah
