Default Flatbed truck transport of glider in trailer?

I just returned from such a trip. Bought a glider in Phoenix and drove it back to New Hampshire. I flew out, inspected the glider, and towed it back behind a 10ft uhaul box truck. That was the only easy way to get a one way rental with a hitch. It was a really good tow vehicle. No glider sway. No cruse control, but it had the next best thing, a governor set to 75. So I could just floor it the whole way home. If you want to reduce expenses, bid for something yourself on uship and bring back a load in your otherwise empty truck...

I've thought of the rental truck idea, a friend looked into it and ran into a bunch of rules or issues that killed the idea. Don't U-hauls come with an odd hitch size like 2 1/4" or something and only allow you to tow their trailers?
And some may be welded on so you can't change them.

What did you end up doing for the hitch?

They do not have a conventional receiver so you can't swap sizes, but it was a 2" Ball. It was about 1 in higher than I would have liked but in that it was just highway Miles that was not too much of a problem. I was just extra careful of steep driveways.

I did the same thing when I bought my glider and towed back from Sacramento.. There is a hole in the bumper of the uhauls for a different tow ball. I bought a 1 7/8thsfrom a auto store while I was out there.
