Finally a little good news
http://www.cnn.com/2005/TRAVEL/03/30....ap/index.html
"Private planes were also involved in fewer crashes last year. The accident rate fell from 6.77 per 100,000 flight hours to 6.22, the lowest recorded by the NTSB since it began keeping statistics in 1975. There were 1,715 general aviation accidents in 2004, down from 1,864 the year before." |

So, does that mean that we are actually getting safer or just exagerating the number of hours that we fly more than we did in previous years? |

I don't know about you but I never exaggerate anything! NEVER! I tend not to log my hours that much... I'll log some now and then for currency, but that's about it... When asked for my hours by the insurance company or the doctor during my medical, I just assume 50 hours per year... It's a pretty safe bet that it will be more than that, but it's a nice round number to use... If I really wanted to figure out my total hours, I could by just looking on my Hobbs meter since I'm the only one who flies my aircraft... Actually, the hours tend to get written down somewhere, but it's usually just a scap of paper that gets shoved in some corner of my flight bag... |
